Since 2000 we have negotiated a total of £34.5 million in Section 106 contributions. All developments have an impact on the local area. For example, if more homes are built in an area it results in more people using services, roads and open spaces. These payments are made by developers to help mitigate the impact of their developments.
The actual income during the financial year 2010 to 2011 was £706,000. This income is from developments which have just been completed or are under construction. This compares to a figure of £414,000 in the 2009 to 2010 financial year.
During 2010 to 2011 a total of £873,000 was spent, compared to £900,000 in the 2009 to 2010 financial year. This money has been collected in previous years and has now been used to fund projects in the vicinity of recently completed developments or to contribute to city wide projects.
