This section provides general information to explain why the recommended steps to follow, when planning a visit, are necessary. They are therefore of interest to managers who are responsible for ensuring robust practice as well as to party leaders.
When circumstances vary from those regarded as normal it is often necessary to understand more before reaching a satisfactory decision. For example most recommendations about the number of adults necessary to supervise a group are based upon groups in excess of ten. Planning for a smaller group may well have to consider all that is expected of the supervisors before reducing their number.
To prepare for any visit of offsite activity it is better to follow a recognised process that is in widespread use through out the country. It will have been adapted as events unfold and will help leaders to avoid missing anything out. This is the sequence that you will find in the section called trip management.
The process is further identified within the forms (PSOE1) and checklists used to present information to get the trip approved. These forms can be found on the documents page.
