Plymouth Pictured: A City Through a Lens

Welcome to Plymouth Pictured: A City Through a Lens where you will be transported back through time through a range of documents, images and film clips from Plymouth city's heritage services.

Glimpse what home-life was like in the past and understand the scale of the re-shaping of the city after the Second World War. Through the eyes of those who were there at the time, appreciate the importance of the sea and seaside to the people of Plymouth and learn more about the development of transport from horse to horse-power.

The images and films on the pages that follow are just a tiny selection of those held at the Plymouth City Museum and Art Gallery, the Plymouth and West Devon Record Office and the South West Film and Television Archive.
