Potholes are inevitable after periods of wet weather with below freezing temperatures. Roads everywhere are vulnerable during winter, as heavy rain and freezing conditions causes the road surfaces to break up and potholes to occur. At Plymouth Transport and Highways we work hard to make the roads safe and keep the city moving during and after tough periods of winter weather.
The recommended way of reporting potholes is to use Plymouth On A Map.
Simply enter your postcode or navigate to the location where the pothole is, click on the map and then select Potholes from the within the Transport and Streets section. (A full help guide is available if you have any questions). Alternatively, you can use our online form.
Between March 2010 and March 2011, Plymouth Transport and Highways repaired over 14,000 potholes.
That is the equivalent of 1166 repaired a month, which is an average of 270 a week or around 55 each working day.
These figures are up to and including the week ending 20 March 2011.
