The public rights of way network in Plymouth is very important. These paths are a valuable part of our history and heritage as well as being a valuable recreational resource. In rural areas they allow people to enjoy the peace and tranquillity of the countryside away from the less desirable busy roads and allows them to reach areas they would not otherwise have access to. In urban areas they provide useful shortcuts away from main roads.
Public rights of way are also important as they offer users the choice between cars and public transport which causes pollution and healthier, more sustainable options such as walking and cycling. Public rights of way are also an excellent attraction for tourists and people travel from all over the country to walk around the south west.
Visit our public rights of way pages for more information.
