How do I vote?
If you are included in the Register of Electors, you should receive a poll card before polling day. The poll card will include your name, address and elector number. It will also tell you the date of the election, polling hours and the location of your polling station.
The poll card is for information only - if you lose it or forget to take it with you - you can still vote without it.
- At the polling station the presiding officer will ask you your name and address and then issue your ballot paper.
- Go to one of the polling booths and mark a cross (X) in the box on the right hand side of the ballot paper opposite the name or names of the individual candidate(s) or political party you are voting for. Do not vote for more than that number. You should put no other mark on the ballot paper, or your vote may not be counted.
- Fold the ballot paper in two.

What do I do if I am unable to get to a polling station?
If you cannot get to a polling station, you are able to apply for a postal vote or proxy vote.

Assistance for disabled voters
- Over 70 per cent of polling stations have wheelchair access and include a low level polling booth for people with wheelchairs.
- Postal votes are available.
- Large print versions of ballot papers are available in all polling stations.
- Special aids are available to enable blind voters to mark ballot papers without assistance.
- A friend or relative may assist a disabled voter at the polling station.
