Leisure
People on the Barbican enjoyed their leisure time in a variety of ways.
Water based activities, such as Regattas and trawler boat races feature in many pictures. Girls could dress up and enter the competition to be crowned Queen of the Regatta, men and boys competed in the tug of war.
Travelling fun fairs tempted whole families to try their attractions, such as Chapman's swing boats, young girls going to the fair on their own were given strict curfews.
The men met up for a drink after work at Barbican pubs such as the Navy and the Dolphin. Family outings were sometimes organised by these pubs.
