Consultation survey results
Results of BID surveys
Detailed surveys were conducted, to better understand the needs and concerns of retailers, shoppers and other city centre stakeholders. This included the distribution of 500 survey forms to retailers and 1000 survey forms to a representative sample of Plymouth resident shoppers. Retailer priorities are summarised in the tables below.
Retailer responses were coded under five broad themes:
- More attractive: improved spaces and amenities with greater priority for pedestrians
- Safer: enhanced security, to improve the perception of safety and reduce crime
- Welcoming and accessible: improved parking, enhanced signage and access for all
- Cleaner and better maintained: improved street cleansing, and maintenance of street furniture
- Better promoted: raise the profile and image of the city centre to existing and potential users
