Bike Links
Scheme summary
Bike Links is a scheme run with Plymouth City Council providing good value bikes and accessories and/or accredited training, to a wide range of potential referrers and their clients.
The scheme is divided into two elements:
Referral of clients to Bike Links
- Providing a bike and training (or just training) to get clients into employment education or training where transport is a barrier.
Bike Links for employers' staff
- Providing 'pool' bikes for a partner organisation and/or training for employees who’ll be using the pool bikes, or their own bikes.
Staff referral to Bike Links [55KB]
The scheme has been set up to meet a wide range of objectives:
- To improve access for a range of client groups to jobs, training and other opportunities including 'life training' in line with Local Area Agreement (LAA) accessibility objectives.
- Plymouth City Council and partners have a variety of LAA and other targets that include increasing cycling trips and levels of exercise, reducing road casualties and limiting carbon emissions.
- Departments wanting to reduce transport costs and improve employee health can use pool bikes for short trips within the city (example already set by Stonehouse police).
