To set a spatial planning framework for the improvement of the city's community health, safety and well-being for everyone.
Our aim is to set a spatial planning framework for the improvement of the city’s community health, safety and well-being. There are a number of facts and figures that we monitor to check that we are moving forward in the right direction.
Did you know that:
- In recent years, three new primary care centres and two new dental schools have opened in the city and four more are planned.
- 43.6 per cent of adults exercise once a week which meets our 41.7 per cent target.
- The gap in life expectancy is 3.4 years between the fifth of the city with the lowest life expectancy and the city as a whole.
- People feel safer outside at night than they did in 2006 (47 per cent in 2009 compared to 34 per cent in 2006).
- People aged 26 to 74 felt safer than the young or the elderly.
- People living in Plympton, Plymstock and Central and North east localities felt safer than those in other parts of the city.
