What services can I use in Plymouth to help with money?
Citizens Advice Bureau (CAB)
Plymouth CAB are contracted by us until 2012 and you can visit them for:
- Welfare benefits checks
- Debt advice
- Money management advice
- Consumer and legal advice
The reception and information services are open Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm and the telephone service is also open Tuesday and Thursday evenings and Saturday mornings.
There are drop-in sessions from 9.30am to 12.30pm, Monday to Friday.
You can call them on 08444 111 444 for information and advice about a whole range of issues such as electricity/gas and water debt right through to free budgeting advice.

The Family Information Service
The Family Information Service is contracted by us until 2012 and you can visit them for:
- Tax credit calculations
- Childcare and out of school activities
- Family legal advice
- Supported access to training and employment

Advice 4 All
Advice 4 All is Plymouth’s own advice network, bringing together organisations across the city that offers information and advice. On the Advice 4 All website you can find a list of over 40 advice agencies from across the city with links to their contact information. The group covers all types of advice from credit unions and consumer rights to children’s centres and victim support.

The Money Advice Service (MAS)
The Money Advice Service have clear, unbiased, money advice, information and interactive money planners to help you work out what's right for you, whatever stage of life you're at. Whether you work with families or are starting your own, our advice, resources and interactive money planners will help you plan, budget and save. If you're facing the prospect of divorce or separating, our unbiased advice, information and new calculator will help you work through some of the important financial implications.
Health check
Whatever the situation with your finances, it’s good to know where you stand and that you are making the most of what you have.
The Money Advice Service has a new online money planner called the health check. Spending just 10 minutes answering a few straightforward questions on the health check provides you with an easy-to-follow personalised plan with the top three actions you can take to make the most of your money right now, and to plan for future goals. Best of all, it’s free and it’s unbiased. The Money Advice Service won’t recommend a particular product or provider or try to sell you anything.
