Travel information
Train
There is a regular train service to Plymouth from around the region and beyond. The station is just a 10-15 minute walk from our main building (follow signs to University, Library and Museum). Alternatively, there is a taxi rank immediately in front of the station. A taxi journey is a 5-10 minute drive depending on the time of day. For train times and information contact National Rail enquiries on 08456 484950.
Bus
Our main building is situated on a busy thoroughfare. Bus services to stops near the Museum are fast and frequent and are provided by either Plymouth Citybus (01752 662271) or First Devon and Cornwall (0845 600 1420).
Park and ride
Park and ride services direct to the centre of Plymouth are available from Milehouse, Coypool and Roborough and are signposted on entrance to the city. For more details see our park and ride page.
Air
Plymouth Airport is just a few miles from the city centre and offers flights to/from Manchester, Leeds Bradford, Jersey and Bristol. For details call 01752 515341.
Car/lorry
Both the front (North Hill) and rear (Tavistock Place) entrances of our main building are accessible directly by car and lorry.
Parking
Short-term street parking is available behind our main building on Tavistock Place. For a longer stay, there is a car park close to our main building, on Regent Street as well as the car park in the new Drake Circus shopping centre. Other public car parks at the top of North Hill and in the city centre, on Mayflower Street, are just a short walk away. For more details see our parking page.
Deliveries
It would be helpful if the Museum could be informed of the expected date and time of deliveries. This is especially important on days when concerts, lectures or other activities may limit the availability of staff to help with unloading etc.
