Recycling centres

Chelson Meadow and Weston Mill are open seven days a week for the general public to dispose of household waste. As well as disposing of household waste you can take along your garden waste which will be turned into compost which you can then buy back!

Domestic cars and those towing trailers are permitted free of charge. Vans disposing of domestic waste are accepted providing they have a current permit. This permit system is not for commercial waste, please visit our trade waste page for information on disposing of trade and commercial waste.

Opening hours

Located close to the landfill site near Plymstock, the site is open 364 days a year, closing only on Christmas day.

The centre is open between 8.30am and 7.30pm from March to October and between 8.30am and 6pm from November to February.

Opening hours

Located near Weston Mill cemetery, the site is open 364 days a year, closing only on Christmas day.

The centre is open between 9am and 6pm throughout the year. Vans are not accepted at Weston Mill.

The following household materials are currently accepted at each site and are being sent for re-use or recycling at processing plants around the country.

If you are disposing of bonded asbestos from your home, you should bear in mind the following points:

  • if possible wrap it before bringing it to the site
  • you should not cut, chop, drill or break it
  • when you arrive at the site, please tell a member of staff what you are carrying, they will then direct you to the disposal point and ask you to complete a simple form to identify where the asbestos came from
