Neighbourhood regeneration
The Neighbourhood Regeneration Team works across the city to improve the quality of life for residents in some of the most deprived neighbourhoods in the city.
The areas that are covered include:
East End renewal area
The East End covers Cattedown, Coxside, Prince Rock and Lower St Judes.
The East End renewal area was declared in May 2000 with a ten year time-frame. The aim was to improve living conditions and quality of life of residents, thereby helping to tackle poverty and social exclusion, health inequalities and neighbourhood decline. Since 2000, a comprehensive package of neighbourhood renewal measures has been undertaken with a focus on housing renewal and community development.
Healthy Living Network
The new heart for the East End Healthy Living Network is a Big Lottery funded project which brings together a variety of different organisations to provide services and activities, all aimed at widening the range of health services for East End residents and improving the general quality of life for local people.
Devonport
Devonport Development Team is working to demolish and redevelop large parts of Devonport to provide modern social, shared ownership and affordable housing. The team consists of members of Plymouth City Council Regeneration Team, Devon and Cornwall Housing Association and Sovereign Housing Association.
Efford
The Efford Building Communities Initiative is a regeneration pilot programme, funded by South West Regional Development Agency, and is being delivered through Plymouth City Council's Neighbourhood Regeneration Team in Partnership with The Heart of Efford Community Partnership.
Please visit the heart of Efford Partnership website which has up to date information on the programme including newsletters.
Neighbourhood management in Stonehouse and North Prospect
Please visit the neighbourhood management websites, Stonehouse Community Directory for Stonehouse and North Prospect Partnership for North Prospect.
Neighbourhood management teams in Stonehouse and North Prospect are working in these two neighbourhoods to improve quality of life for residents, improve services, reduce crime and anti-social behaviour and improve the environment.
Neighbourhood management is a pilot programme funded by the neighbourhood element of the Safer Stronger Communities Fund for three years in Stonehouse (2007 to 2010) and two years in North Prospect (2007 to 2009).
