Standards
To reduce the problems of tenants sharing facilities there are specified standards. These also ensure the facilities provided are adequate, for example, ensuring that a wash hand basin is provided with hot and cold water.
The standards are divided into 2 groups:
- bedsits, shared houses and student lets
- bed and breakfast accommodation
Fire is a significant problem in this type of accommodation and therefore fire precautions are required, these include that the layout of the house/property is safe, there is adequate fire detection and fire extinguishers and blankets are provided. Our fire precautions guide outlines the standards we require.
