Getting involved
If you are a Council tenant or a leaseholder you can become involved and have your say at special meetings, events, activities and workshops. For all conferences, road shows and groups, lunch is provided and expenses are paid, from travel expenses to child care.
You can become involved as much as you like. Below are some of the different methods that you could use to take part in the stock transfer consultation.
Register with the Interested Tenants Network (ITN) database
This is a database held by the Tenant Participation Team. It contains names, addresses and contact details of tenants who have told us they would like to be kept informed. If you would like to join this database please call the Tenant Participation Team on 306281.
This is a group of young tenants who are very interested in what happens to council housing. They are producing a drama presentation to illustrate what they believe to be the priorities for change, should the transfer go ahead. If you would like to know more please contact the Tenant Participation Team.
PUSH
Plymouth United Sheltered Housing (PUSH) is a group of sheltered housing residents who are working with the Council to advise on the type of accommodation and service they would like to see if transfer went ahead.
DTAG
The Disabled Tenants Action Group (DTAG) is a group of disabled tenants who are working with the Council to advise on the type of accommodation and service they would like to see if transfer went ahead.
PETRA
Plymouth Federation of Tenants and Residents Associations (
PETRA), the independent tenants federation has staff who can help people set up and maintain tenants groups.
Stock Transfer Advisory Group (STAG)
STAG is a group of active tenants, of all ages, who meet monthly to discuss the Stock Transfer consultation. This is a lively group, who are very interested in what happens to council housing. This meeting includes a free lunch and transport can also be paid for.
Attend our Road Shows and Conferences
Through the ITN we will send you invitations to attend our road shows and conferences. Road shows are held every three months and conferences are held when they are required. Lots of information is passed to tenants at these events and we get lots of views fed back to us too. We include lunch and can also pay for your transport. These events are very productive and very lively!
Respond to our Prize Draw Surveys
If you are registered with the Interested Tenants Network (ITN) we will send you updates every month. We frequently send out surveys to get your feedback, which may be used to improve services. By responding you will automatically be entered into our prize draw.
Arrange a visit
If you are unable to attend any of the groups or organised events, why not invite the Stock Transfer Team or DWA (the independent tenants adviser) to your residents group, sheltered housing scheme, youth club, community centre or community group. This way we can come to you with all the information you may need.
What’s Up is sent to
all Council tenants every 3 months. It has important updates about stock transfer. It also contains other interesting articles about what else is happening.
The Better Homes newsletter will be sent regularly to
all council tenants. It is specifically about the proposed transfer and contains information and updates for people who are unable to attend groups and events.
