Education
Education records for schools in the City of Plymouth and parts of West Devon and South Hams boroughs are held in Plymouth and West Devon Record Office.
Records held
We hold records of school boards and the local education authority for the 19th and 20th centuries. Many records are also held of individual schools, including log books, registers of admission and attendance, punishment books etc, mostly from 1870 onwards. Please see our school records page for further details.
Availability of records
As a general rule, education records have access restrictions for thirty (30) years from the date of creation. Access to the records within this time period is restricted to being able to see your own records.
Anyone wishing to see their own records or who needs confirmation of their exam results should contact us for further information.
School records index
Search our school records index. The index lists all surviving log books, and admission registers. (Leavers files, pupil files and punishment books are also held but are not yet part of this index). The index is arranged alphabetically by school name. Links are provided in the index to our online catalogues.
