Consultation and feedback

We welcome your views on all our services, and there are a number of ways that you can tell us what you think.

Information on this page will help you find out about some of the consultations that are happening now. You can also find out about how the results from past consultations have been used.

Alternatively, you can use 'Have Your Say' to give us your views on any of our services.

Consultation and Participation Framework

Our current Consultation and Participation Framework (see documents table below) was published in 2006.

This will shortly be reviewed. Our aim is to make clear to you our consultation and engagement commitments regardless of which part of the Council you come into contact with.

Diverse Plymouth

We are constantly seeking new ways to engage and consult with people from different backgrounds. The 'Diverse Plymouth' initiative has been set up with the involvement of a number of groups in the city who represent the interests of 'diverse' communities (eg. the disabled and Black and Minority Ethnic (BME) people). The initiative is growing. If you would like to find out more pleasecontact consults@plymouth.gov.uk.

Residents Panel (Plymouth Points of View)

Our successful residents’ panel has been running since 2002. Using a panel of 1600 randomly-selected residents, the panel aims to take part in at least 4 surveys a year. The panel will be reviewed over the next few months. For further information please contact consults@plymouth.gov.uk.

Coming up

  • The Place Survey - between October and December, we will be running 'The Place Survey' on behalf of the Local Strategy Partnership (Plymouth 2020). This a major survey carried out by all Councils every two years to find out what you think about our services and those of our partners including the police, health and fire service. Further information will be available soon. Results will be published in March 2009.
  • City Centre Area Action Plan (AAP) - the issues and options stage of this AAP was consulted on during 2005. The next stage of this project will go to consultation during November 2008. Further information can be found on the City Centre/University Area Action Plan page.

How we have used consultation results

Listed below are some examples of how we have used the findings from consultation to develop policy and services.

  • All our Futures - Plymouth’s Strategy for the over 50s - following extensive consultation in early 2008, our strategy for the over 50s is due to be considered by Full Council on Monday 22 September. The current draft can be found on the meetings, agendas and minutes page.
  • Equality Scheme - following consultation with BME groups, individuals and staff we have now published our new (integrated) Equality Scheme. Further details can be found on the social inclusion and community cohesion page.
  • Central Park Area Action Plan - an Area Action Plan for the Central Park area has been produced and adopted. Further details can be found on the Central Park Area Action Plan submitted page.
