All road markings are repainted at regular intervals but some can wear out quickly and may need attention more often. If that is the case please fill out the highway problems online form.

Who do I inform if road markings related to parking are being ignored?
If road markings related to parking are being ignored please contact parking. Only the Police have the authority to enforce the abuse of white zigzag lines situated at pedestrian crossings.
How do I request an extension to yellow lines/waiting restrictions?
The introduction of new or the extension of existing waiting restrictions/parking restrictions on the road requires the introduction of a Traffic Regulation Order to enable our Parking Attendants to legally enforce them. If you require further information or would like to make a request please contact us with the details and a Council Officer will investigate.

How do I report road markings that are confusing, misleading or incorrect?
Although every effort is made to make road markings as clear as possible we are governed by legislation as to what can and cannot be used. Please contact us with the details and an assessment can be carried out by one of our officers.
What happens when the road markings/restrictions have changed since work was carried out on the street?
It could be that the restrictions have changed and what is now on the street represents those changes. If you require further information please contact us and it will be investigated by one of our officers.
What are keep clear road markings for?
Keep clear markings are used to indicate to drivers where the highway should be kept clear of waiting or parked vehicles. This is to allow access to side roads or business and private entrances. These markings are advisory and not legally enforceable.
Traffic queuing from traffic lights often blocks my entrance. Can anything be done to prevent this?
Keep clear markings are often used in this situation. An assessment is required by a Council Officer. Please contact us with the details of your request.

If you cannot gain access to your property, either business or private, because of inconsiderate parking then obstruction has been caused and can be dealt with by the police. (08452 777444). Alternatively, white bar markings can be placed on the highway to highlight the access. Whilst these markings are not legally enforceable they can be very effective.
