Development Guidelines Supplementary Planning Document

This Supplementary Planning Document (SPD) provides planning guidance in relation to several types of development. It covers:

• Residential development, including house extensions and alterations
• Food and drink uses
• Shop fronts
• Outdoor signs and advertisements
• Refuse storage facilities
• Telecommunications
• Parking standards
• Coastal development

Each section is illustrated with diagrams and photos and contains references to sources of further information.

Where we are

The Development Guidelines SPD was formally adopted by Full Council on 26 April 2010. The Council report containing the SPD can be viewed below, along with the Sustainability Appraisal, Habitat Regulations Screening Report, the Statement of Consultation and the Adoption Statement. A publication-standard version of the SPD is being prepared.
