Mutley and Greenbank anti-social behaviour project consulatation
In October 2010 year we asked residents in Mutley and Greenbank to tell us about anti-social behaviour problems in the area. We had a very good response to our survey, giving us a clear message about the sorts of anti-social behaviour residents were experiencing.
We held two exhibitions in January 2011, one at the University of Plymouth and another in Mutley Baptist Church to let residents know the survey results. The exhibition material, giving more detailed information about the survey results is available below.
Below is an information leaflet delivered to residents in Mutley and Greenbank which covers the results of the survey, who to contact if you want to report anti-social behaviour incidents and details of getting involved in neighbourhood meetings.
The results of the survey prompted the partnership to decide on a number of initiatives which included:
- Four Nights of Action on North Hill and Mutley Plain to target all forms of anti-social behaviour including littering and criminal damage.
- The installation of 10 larger and more visible litter bins on North Hill
- Working with the student population to encourage more effective communications and awareness about keeping safe and acting responsibly
- The organisation of events such as a community clear up day
- Implemented a Designated Public Place Order for both Freedom Park and Tothill Park giving the Police added powers to direct people drinking alcohol who are acting irresponsibly away from the park as well as an ability to confiscate alcohol.
A follow up survey in March 2011 highlighted that residents, as a result of the project felt more engaged and able to influence decision making and therefore the Partnership is currently exploring ways to continue certain particularly successful elements of the project where possible. For example four more nights of action over the coming year will be sponsored by the University.
