Bookings
We appreciate that your wedding is one of the most important occasions in your life. Before you make any decisions, therefore, we welcome the opportunity to show you around the house to discuss the arrangements for your special day. Please call to arrange an appointment on 01752 822236.
Civil ceremony
If you would like to hold a civil wedding ceremony at Mount Edgcumbe House, you should first contact Mount Edgcumbe House to check availability. Then speak to the St Germans Superintendent Registrar on 0300 1234 181 to check the availability of a Registrar. The office hours are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday between 10am and 2pm.
Once a date has been agreed with both the Registrar and Mount Edgcumbe House, you should complete a booking form. An official invoice will be issued at this stage for a non-returnable deposit of 50 per cent of the booking cost.
Costs
- The Great Hall or the Drawing Room for a wedding ceremony is £860
- The Library is £650
- Gallery in conjunction with the Great Hall £200
- Extended use of the Earl's Garden £230
The cost excludes the Registrar's fee. The Wedding Co-ordinator will be in touch with you regarding your wedding ceremony once your wedding has been confirmed.
The ceremony
Doors open one hour before the beginning of the ceremony for guests to arrive. Guests should be seated 10 minutes before the bride's arrival. The ceremony lasts approximately 40 minutes followed by photographs. The Wedding Co-ordinator is your contact before and during the ceremony if you have any problems or queries regarding arrangements.
Any music must be given to the house staff in advance of the day of the ceremony. This should preferably be on CD. No religious music or music with religious connotations can be used for the civil ceremony. We advise, if you plan to have live music for your ceremony or wish to have a pianist to play on the grand piano, that you first contact the Wedding Co-ordinator to discuss arrangements. Photographs are permitted after the ceremony, in the room that has been booked, on the staircase in the Great Hall and in the Earl's Garden.
The photographer should liaise with the house staff before the ceremony if they are unfamiliar with the site. If you wish to have fresh flower arrangements, please discuss this with the Wedding Co-ordinator.
