Museum in Transit - schools

Museum in Transit (MIT) is our core schools education service designed to create a unique, week-long event in your school.

The Learning Team bring the museum to your school with displays, handling objects, replica items, images and costumes. Children are involved with the organisation and smooth running of the week as they take on the roles of museum workers - from attendants and security to conservation, design and curatorial roles.

The Learning Team deliver whole school assemblies, class sessions and individual enquiry opportunities during the week-long, timetabled event.

The visit is planned around a group of curriculum themes selected by the school. Sessions and activities undertaken during the week cover a wide range of History, Art, Science, English and other cross-curricular objectives.

Booking

For schools interested MIT for the first time call the Learning Team to book a 20 minute presentation for your staff. For schools booking for a repeat visit by MIT please try to book as early as possible to avoid disappointment.
