Our vision

Our vision is for Plymouth to become "one of Europe’s finest, most vibrant waterfront cities, where an outstanding quality of life is enjoyed by everyone.

This vision is shared with our partners in the Local Strategic Partnership (LSP), Plymouth 2020 and is described in the Sustainable Community Strategy. It involves, amongst other things, opening up the city’s waterfront, regenerating our local communities, building new schools, providing high quality leisure amenities, attracting new firms and jobs to the city and making it a more vibrant and attractive place to live, work and play. It is a huge agenda.

As a council we want to be excellent by 2012. This means we want to be very customer focused, offer high quality tailored services, provide value for money and operate in a way that doesn’t damage the environment. It also means being an employer of choice, with high quality, well motivated staff who can help deliver our vision for the city and the council.
