This exciting and forward thinking document has been written to put the needs of children and young people first. It set out five priorities that are important to ensure that all children in Plymouth have the best changes in life and shows the action that Plymouth City Council with take to help them achieve them.
The review of this plan led by Joan Watkins, has come about from various, well published consultation event, linking in with the local press to ensure the widest possible attendance. These events have included Parents on the Plaza, online surveys and meetings with Plymouth’s Youth Parliament to target the views of Children and Young People. Over 200 replies from members of the public and Plymouth City Council Staff were used to inform this Children and Young Peoples Plan.

VCS and TTDA collaborative event
10 May 2010
The Tamar Science Park held the first VCS Stakeholder event this May, over 100 organisations from the public and the voluntary and community sector met to share ideas and good practice.
The stands represented the diverse and pioneering nature of the voluntary and community sector; many were interactive and superbly exhibited the incredible range of projects being delivered for children and young people in Plymouth.
Speakers at the event ranged from Head of Children's Services, Bronwen Lacey, Helen McLindon, Children's and Mental Health Commissioner to Kevin Feaviour, Training and Development Agency for Schools. Workshops were also delivered by British Association of Settlements and Social Action Centres (BASSAC), Plymouth Guild and the South West Forum, covering collaboration and commissioning topics.
Members of the voluntary and community sector were able to have a day of extremely productive and informative networking, exchanging ideas and demonstrating their original and successful projects.
Feedback from attendees from Plymouth City Council, the Youth Service, local schools and Plymouth Primary Care Trust was exceptionally positive, with members stating that they were unaware of the diversity and quality of the work undertaken within the voluntary and community sector.
This innovative event funded by Plymouth Trust for Children and Young People will enable attendees to build the foundations of new partnerships, mergers and collaborations that will help the public and voluntary and community sector in the challenging times ahead.

Plymouth's challenge: Raising aspirations in young people and young people not in education
14 October 2009
We want children and young people in Plymouth to aim high and that's why our Children and Young People's Trust stakeholder day focused on the challenge of raising aspirations across Plymouth.
The national press has highlighted young people not in education, employment and training as a major concern across the country. This event gave the chance to find out more about the local picture and the ground breaking initiatives taking place right now.
The day provided a mixture of inputs including keynote speakers from the Children and Young People's Trust and members of Youth Parliament, plus workshops to learn more about areas of best practice. We heard from you about what's making a difference to young people's outcomes and you were able to snap up ideas about initiatives springing up nationally and locally.
