Street licence

Before starting any work on the highway you need to obtain a street licence with the required notification period.

The street licence is required for works that involve excavation or the use of traffic management (closing part of the highway network, footway/carriageway) or temporary traffic control (in accordance with the New Roads and Street Works Act 1991 and the Traffic Management Act 2004).
