Professional Supervision for Child Protection (SSA)
The report from Lord Laming following the Inquiry into the death of Peter Connolly (known as 'Baby P') included a strong emphasis on the need for all those working with parents, families and/or children and young people to receive regular, supportive and challenging professional supervision.
For many years, the Government has expressed concern at the lack of sufficient supervision for practitioners who may have to deal with child protection. The Plymouth Safeguarding Children Board (PSCB) is committed to promote access to professional supervision and guidance for all those who may have concerns about children.
As part of our commitment we have produced a new multi-agency training course for practitioners and their managers, based upon the most up-to-date research and knowledge of what works to protect children.
Delivered by lead practice managers, this course will examine core principles of safe practice in-line with legislation and procedures.
The PSCB offers a range of up-to-date statutory training in areas of Best Practice concerning Safeguarding Children and Child Protection. All courses are multi-agency, offering participants the opportunity to meet practitioners and managers from a variety of agencies, to better understand the essential inter-agency nature of all child protection work in Plymouth.
Understanding Child Protection (CPF), is the gateway course to all PSCB training and learning opportunities. Once completed, successful participants can access all other PSCB courses including Understanding Supervision for Child Protection (SSA).
The course details can be downloaded below:
Please see our safeguarding, learning and development page which provides the background information to the training we offer. The training course page gives full details of other courses available and the PSCB training calendar.
