Taxibus
Plymouth has been at the forefront in developing the idea of the taxibus, where local bus services are provided by Hackney carriages. All Hackney carriages in Plymouth are wheelchair accessible.
There is currently one Taxibus route, the 223 St Budeaux Taxibus (Circular) operated by Mark Legassick and Michael Fahy.
Taxibus routes operate the same way as routes operated by full-sized buses, picking up and setting down at stops along a route according to a timetable. They stop at any recognised bus stop along the route and on some sections they operate on a 'hail and ride' basis, where customers will be picked up or set down wherever it is safe to do so.
Taxibus fares are similar to fares charged by other bus operators in the city. A fare chart should always be displayed within the vehicle.
The St Budeaux Taxibus service operates Monday to Friday up to every 20 minutes. Adult fares are £1.50 for a single or £2.50 for a return. Child fares are 60p for a single or £1 for a return.
Holders of national concessionary bus passes can use their passes on taxibus services, although we would advise you that, due to limited capacity, services may be very busy just after 9.30am.
For further details on the 223 St Budeaux Taxibus service please download the timetable from the document table below or contact the Sustainable Transport Team.on 01752 668000.
If you find that there is not a bus or taxibus that meets your needs you could try ring and ride, a service offered by the Community Transport Team.
