Tell us once - Births
If you’ve just had a baby, we can help you tell the people who need to know.
When you have a baby, you will need to tell some government departments and local council services about the birth. Until now, you had to contact them all individually.
The good news is that you will automatically be offered this service when you register the birth of your child at the Register Office.
What information will I need to provide?
To make sure the right information is given to the organisations we contact for you, please bring the following documents or information with you:
- Birth certificate
- A completed child benefit claim form
- The account number, sort code and address of your bank to be included on the child benefit form (if this is your first child)
- Details of any benefits the person(s) named on the birth register are receiving or have applied for
Please remember that it is still your responsibility to make sure any organisation that pays a benefit has correct and up-to-date information.
Who can we give information to?
We can contact the following organisations for you:
