It is good to have a variety of different fruit and vegetables in your diet. Each fruit and vegetable contains different vitamins, minerals and nutrients - the more variety we have in our diets the better. Also if there are lots of attractive colours on the plate, it is also a good way of encouraging children to eat fruit and vegetables.
Ways to encourage children to eat fruits
- Making fruit smoothies
- Freeze fruit purees as ice lollies
- Adding fruits to jellies
- Serving fruit cut up as a snack
- Try to eat meals as a family with your children, it's a great way to spend more time together as a family and if they see you eating fruit and vegetables, they are more likely to eat it too
See our resources page for posters, leaflets and activity sheets.
