Young people raising their hands

UK Youth Parliament

The UK Youth Parliament (UKYP) enables young people to use their energy, skills and passion to change the world for the better. UKYP gives young people between the age of 11 and 18 a voice which is heard and listened to by local and national government, providers of services for young people and other agencies that have an interest in the views and needs of young people. This is your chance to make a real difference.

Currently, we have over 600 elected Members of Youth Parliament (MYPs), aged between 11 and 18 (inclusive). MYPs represent both young men and women, including young people from a variety of ethnic backgrounds, and with physical and learning disabilities.

Every July all the MYPs get together and produce a manifesto of issues that young people think are important and affect them, like education, activities and media, laws, the environment, international issues etc.

The Government reads this document and the MYP then takes those issues forward in their city or area.

If you are between 11 and 18, living in the Plymouth area and have an issue you feel is important then please contact the Youth Participation Team or we can arrange for the MYP to come out to talk to you or your group. Check out the UK Youth Parliament website for more information.
