Understanding Training for Child Protection (UTS)
The Plymouth Safeguarding Children Board (PSCB) offers a range of up-to-date statutory training in areas of Best Practice concerning Safeguarding Children and Child Protection. All courses are inter-agency, offering participants the opportunity to meet practitioners and managers from a variety of agencies, to better understand the essential inter-agency nature of all child protection work in Plymouth.
Understanding Training for Child Protection (CPF), is the gateway course to all PSCB training and learning opportunities. Once completed, successful participants can access all other PSCB courses including Understanding Training for Child Protection (UTS).
This course offers detailed consideration of the contemporary philosophy, Government Policy and Best Practice imperatives for Safeguarding and Child Protection, for all workers in any agencies accessed by children, young people and/or their parents and families; practitioners across all sectors, and their managers. We then look at the specific methodology of delivery of training for Safeguarding and Child Protection by the PSCB and partner agencies.
The course does not qualify participants as trainers, or offer comprehensive packages in order to deliver training. The course offers senior practitioners and managers from all lead agencies the opportunity to develop existing skills of leadership and communication, to encourage co-facilitation of learning events for Safeguarding and Child Protection. The programme is delivered by the specialist trainers from the PSCB.
Structure
One day training foundation course, providing participants from different agencies with the information and context necessary to co-facilitate child protection training. Participants will be expected to produce a five minute presentation, and to offer further days with the PSCB to observe training courses in advance of being accredited to co-facilitate for the PSCB. Co-facilitators will be required to maintain strict Quality Audits and adhere to the PSCB model of training.
It is essential that all participants have completed at least the one-day Understanding Child Protection Foundation training or recognised equivalent. This course will not be appropriate for those with no child protection training or awareness.
The course details can be downloaded below:
