Stand-up and say ‘Enough’ to Violence Against Women and Girls
The 16 Days of Activism against Gender-based Violence is an international campaign to challenge violence against women and girls. The annual campaign runs from 25 November (the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women) to 10 December (Human Rights Day).
Organisations across the city are coming together to launch campaigns and hold events to raise awareness of the issue.
We are supporting local charity ‘Trevi’ in their new campaign, saying 'Enough’ to violence against women and girls, and throughout the 16 days posters and publicity will be displayed across the city, to raise awareness. More information about their campaign: Endvawg - Trevi
We will be issuing communications throughout the 16 days and marking key dates during this time, such as the White Ribbon Day on 25 November.
In addition, local charity First Light are running a campaign#Pledge4Change during the 16 days. The campaign involves First Light making three vital pledges, create change, no voice left unheard, and empower everyone. This year, there is also a wide range of awareness events taking place in Plymouth across the 16 days, and you could get involved.
Perhaps you want to know more about how to help survivors to access support services, or just want to know more generally about the inequality that women face when it comes to incidents of violence, particularly in the home.
If you have been a victim of violence against women and girls, remember there is support available across the city. Find out more about Plymouth's support offer.
