Councillor Mark Shayer is to be acting leader of Plymouth City Council until the Annual General Meeting following the local elections in May 2023.
This follows the resignation of Councillor Richard Bingley as leader of the Council and the meeting determining not to elect a new Leader until after the local elections on 4 May 2023.
The Chief Executive of Plymouth City Council today received a letter from Councillor Richard Bingley, confirming his resignation as Leader of the Council, effective from noon.
