Why are squirrels a pest?

They can damage buildings as they need to gnaw to keep their teeth sharp. They cause noise problems and may gnaw electrical cabling which can cause fires.

Where are they found?

In woodlands and parks, but they can enter roof spaces of nearby houses and build nests out of loft insulation. Signs of squirrels are gnawing marks in woodwork, plaster work and cables.

How to prevent an infestation

  • Keep houses in good condition, especially around the eves and roof junctions
