Bank Holiday service update

Earlier this week the government announced that Monday 19 September, the day of Her Majesty the Queen's state funeral, will be a bank holiday.

The bank holiday will allow residents to pay their respects to Her Majesty while marking the final day of the period of national mourning.

This will mean the following changes to Council services:

Waste and refuse collections

We will not be collecting bins on Monday 19 September. As usual for Bank Holiday weeks, waste collections will be one day later than usual.

So if your normal collection day is Monday your collection will be on Tuesday, and so on. It will be all back to normal the following week.

Both of our Household Waste Recycling Centres at Chelson Meadow and Weston Mill will be closed all day.

Bulky waste collections will also be postponed.

Libraries

All libraries will be closed.

This means that the Books of Condolence at Southway or Plympton libraries will not be available. Residents wishing to sign a book can do so at St Andrew's Church or at the Council House.

Leisure

Plymouth Active Leisure facilities at the Plymouth Life Centre, Plympton Pool and Gym and Brickfields Sports Centre and Recreation Ground will be closed. As a reminder, Tinside Lido and Mount Wise Swimming Pools close for the season on Sunday 18 September.

Plymouth Market

Plymouth Market will be closed.

The Box

The Box will be closed.

Customer services

Our main customer services function will be closed but emergencies can still be reported by calling 01752 668000.
