A £53 million scheme to transform the former Bretonside coach station into a leisure complex with a 12 screen Cineworld cinema, 15 restaurant units and 450 car park spaces.

The scheme is across the road from the British Land-owned Drake Circus and work has already started.

The scheme will create 350 permanent jobs and a large number of temporary construction jobs.

McLaren is the main contractor and work has already started. The scheme is set to open in autumn 2019.

The auditoriums are taking shape, with walls being lined, concrete floors poured and steel decking that will form the tiered seating now in place.

Work on the car park below the complex is also well underway with ramps being created and escalators shortly to be installed.

Outside on Exeter Street, a new crossing has been installed to link Bretonside with Drake Circus.
