Real Christmas trees

Residents will once again get the chance to recycle their Christmas trees and get a free bag of wood chippings. Following the success of last year’s trial scheme, wood-chipping machines will be on a mini tour of Plymouth to dispose of Christmas trees responsibly.

Teams from the Council will take the machines to locations across the city to make it easier for residents to get rid of their real trees once the festive fortnight is over.

Wood chipping machines will be at a number of car parks across the city. The locations, dates and times are as below:

Plympton St Mary car park (off Market Road)

  • Monday 8 January 2018: 8.30am to 12.30pm
  • Monday 15 January 2018: 8.30am to 12.30pm

Plymstock Broadway car park

  • Monday 8 January 2018: 1.30pm to 3.30pm

Honicknowle – Ringmore Way car park (next to Honiton Close)

Garden waste

You can take your garden waste to one of our recycling centres or we can collect it on your garden waste collection day – you can check what day this is by typing your postcode into the check your bin day. We'll give you four reusable plastic bags for your garden waste.

Composting

Compost your garden waste at home and you'll have your own soil improver. Get advice from the Royal Horticultural Society, Garden Organic and the Waste Resources Action Programme (WRAP) websites.
