Parking outside schools

You're not allowed to park on keep clear yellow zig-zag markings outside schools (this includes Blue Badge holders). They're there to keep everyone safe, allowing pedestrians to see the road clearly when they're crossing and making it easier for drivers to see pedestrians.

We use a CCTV car to record dangerous parking if it's putting pedestrians at risk or causing congestion and drivers can be fined £70. The car is clearly marked to show it's a road safety and enforcement car.

The car can also target stopping or parking:

  • in a bus stop clearway lay-by
  • in a restricted loading area
  • on the white zig-zags near a pedestrian crossing
  • on the pavement
