2050 Climate Mobility City
The 2050 Climate Mobility City project is helping policymakers to identify, plan and implement mobility policies that support their long-term climate objectives.
Plymouth has declared a climate emergency and has ambitious plans for its transport infrastructure. The project will help the city to improve the performance of its urban mobility infrastructure in terms of reducing carbon emissions by focussing on four issues:
- Identification of measures to reduce carbon emissions from transport.
- How the city’s urban structure needs to change to support the move to climate-friendly mobility.
- Electric mobility and large scale charging of electric vehicles.
- Information and communication systems supporting the shift away from private vehicles.
The partners in the project are:

- City of Bydgoszcz, Poland
- City of Leipzig, Germany
- Delft University of Technology, Netherlands
- Municipality of Almeria, Spain
- Municipality of Thessaloniki, Greece
- Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research, Germany
The total budget for the project is Euro 1,332,046, with 85% being received from the EU’s Interreg Europe programme.
The project runs from August 2019 to July 2023.
