Additional Restrictions Grant

Updated 8 March 2022.

Plymouth City Council has received £256,000 in Additional Restrictions Grant (ARG) funding from the Government.

This funding is to support businesses that have been impacted by the Omicron variant of Covid-19, but were ineligible for the Omicron Hospitality and Leisure Grant.

The Council is offering grants of £1,500 to businesses which will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.

Businesses must have fixed business premises to be considered eligible for a grant.

Grants are available for the following types of businesses:

  • Leisure, hospitality and accommodation businesses with packaged rent and rates (which made them ineligible for the Omicron Hospitality and Leisure Grant)
  • Personal care services (only for businesses occupying the entirety of their business premises – for example, not those that rent a space within a salon)
  • Travel and tourism businesses including group travel, travel agents, tour operators and coach operators
  • Wedding businesses
  • Events businesses
  • English language schools
  • Breweries
  • Gyms
  • Independent retailers
  • Wholesalers that supply the hospitality sector

Applications for the grant have now closed.

Grant payments

The grant available is a one-off payment of £1,500.

Plymouth City Council is aiming to pay all successful applicants within two weeks of application.
