Omicron Hospitality and Leisure business grant

In December, the Government announced the introduction of new grant support for hospitality, leisure and accommodation businesses in England.

The scheme offers support to businesses in recognition of the fact that the rise of the Omicron variant means that some businesses are likely to struggle over the winter months and will have been impacted over Christmas and the New Year period.

This support will take the form of a one-off grant funding scheme, with grants of up to £6,000 available.

The scheme will close for applications on 18 March 2022 at midnight and all final payments will be made by 31 March 2022.


Eligibility

The Omicron Hospitality and Leisure Grant scheme will support businesses that offer in-person services, where the main service and activity takes place in a fixed rate-paying premises, in the hospitality, leisure and accommodation sectors.

  • Hospitality definition: a business whose main function is to provide a venue for the consumption and sale of food and drink
  • Leisure definition: a business that provides opportunities, experiences and facilities, in particular for culture, recreation, entertainment, celebratory events, days and nights out, betting and gaming
  • Accommodation definition: a business whose main lodging provision is used for holiday, travel and other purposes.

The Omicron Hospitality and Leisure Grant scheme is for businesses on the Valuation Office Agency (VOA) ratings list only.

Certain types of businesses, including retail businesses, takeaways and coach tour operators, cannot claim this grant. See the full list of applicable and excluded businesses on the Invest Plymouth website.

The Omicron business grant scheme has now closed.

 


Grant payments

Businesses will receive the following one-off grant payments, based on the rateable value of the property they occupy:

  • For properties with a rateable value of £15,000 or under, grants to be £2,667
  • For properties with a rateable value between £15,000 and £51,000, grants to be £4,000
  • For properties with a rateable value of £51,000 or over, grants to be £6,000.
