Safeguarding and Welfare Training

The Early Years Safeguarding and Welfare Team offer training to all early years providers.


Safeguarding and Welfare briefing sessions - FREE TRAINING

These briefings are for Designated Safeguarding Leads in all settings and all childminders in Plymouth.

These update briefings will provide the latest information, guidance and procedures on safeguarding, child protection and welfare topics.  It is expected that at least one person from each setting will attend one of these sessions.



Single Agency Child Protection training - FREE TRAINING

An introduction level one training for people registering as a childminder.  This can also be attended by members of setting staff that are new to childcare and have no previous child protection training.  This would be an introduction to safeguarding whilst awaiting full Plymouth Safeguarding Children's Partnership training.

This session offers an introduction to:

  • the subject of child protection;
  • signs and indicators of child abuse and how to recognise these;
  • what to do if you have a concern about a child;
  • how to promote the welfare of every child;
  • understand individual roles and duties as a childminder;
  • safer working practices.

Childminder Pre-registration briefing sessions

These pre-registration briefing sessions are for those who are thinking of becoming a childminder. There are four sessions to attend which cover the wide variety of information for prospective childminders.

These sessions cost £100 for the four sessions.
