VE Day 75

Victory in Europe Day (VE Day) takes place on 8 May, marking 75 years since the end of the war in Europe.

Although our planned commemoration event on Plymouth Hoe can no longer take place, we’d love it if you can host your own celebrations safely at home.

Rehabilitation Triathlon, hosted by the Royal Marines

For the first time in the event history, the Royal Marines Rehabilitation Triathlon will be held as a public event, traditionally held in Lympstone but moved to the spectacular setting of Plymouth Hoe for 2020.

This exciting race will include swimming, which will be hosted in the historic art deco Lido in Plymouth Sound, followed by cycle time trails, held around Plymouth Hoe.

The athletes will then seamlessly move onto the ‘Concept2’ rowers which will be located along the Promenade, before moving over the finishing line.

This event forms part of the Mayflower Week.

Mayflower Muster

This year, we will celebrate Plymouth's heritage in partnership with the US and Dutch Armed Forces to create a spectacular festival including live displays, interactive demonstrations and a host of other activity.

Mayflower Ceremony

A four-nations civic ceremony commemorating the Mayflower’s journey and legacy on the day of the Mayflower’s departure, attended by representatives from the UK, US, Netherlands and Wampanoag. There will be schools and mass participation elements, making sure that Plymouth’s residents are at the heart of this special day.
