Health Safety and Wellbeing Assurance

Health, Safety, and Wellbeing

It’s an exciting time for the right professionals to join the health, safety and wellbeing team at Plymouth City Council. With a retirement pending and a promotion for another team member, we want to ensure we stay on track to deliver our ambitious business plan. We have purchased a new digital HSW Management system from SHE Assure that will be implemented in October, and have secured approval for a two year improvement programme to result in ISO45001 accreditation; we are developing a Wellbeing Strategy to ensure a continuous journey of improvement against our Wellbeing Charter accreditation. If you would like to see more of the journey we are on, please see our annual reports from 2016-2018.

We are part of the HROD department and work closely with The Office of the Director of Public Health and Facilities Management to deliver our current business plan. We are due to support a team member to complete a Safety Health and Environment Technician Apprenticeship starting in September.

We are also looking for a health and safety professional who can join our Street Services team to provide day to day detailed advice and input to the service and its operations.  The successful candidate will be someone who can roll up their sleeves and support the delivery of a programme of health and safety improvements within the Street Scene and Waste department, be someone experienced in ensuring the health, safety and wellbeing of a large front line workforce, third party contractors and the public as well as having a track record of delivering sustainable change.
