When you're arranging a funeral one of the most difficult decisions to make is where the final resting place should be. We can look after the remains for up to one month to give you more time to consider your choices.

The following memorials are available at Efford or Weston Mill cemeteries and crematoria:

The book of remembrance provides a simple and lasting memorial.

The book (four volumes) has two pages allocated to each day of the year and the pages are turned daily so that the memorial entries can be seen on each anniversary. Entries are inscribed by skilled artists and you decide which date the entry is to appear on (usually the date of death). Entries can be between two and eight lines and entries of five lines or more can include a design.

You can also buy the following copies of an inscription for you or your family and friends:

Memorial card

  • 170mm by 125mm
  • Gilt edges bordered by a design in three colours
  • States the entry is from the book of remembrance
  • Copy (inscribed by hand) of the original inscription under the anniversary date

Folded remembrance card

  • 165mm by 120mm
  • Colour reproduction of the book of remembrance cover on the outside
  • Copy (inscribed by hand) of the original inscription underneath the anniversary date
  • Supplied with a protective wallet

Miniature book of remembrance

  • 210mm by 150mm
  • Full binding in simulated vellum with the cover gold blocked with a design resembling the original book of remembrance
  • Contains a title page, suitable quotation page, together with other pages of quality paper
  • Copy (inscribed by hand) of the original inscription on the centre page under the anniversary date
  • Supplied with a glassine wrapper and protective box

To ensure the inscription can be seen on the next anniversary, we'll need to receive applications at least five months before the date of entry.

All our cemeteries have an area reserved for cremated remains. Plots are 900mm by 900mm, contain two caskets and are available on a 25 or 50-year renewable lease.

We provide all bases on which approved memorials can be placed and you'll need to buy the sloping block from an approved monumental mason.

Bases must:

  • be made of natural stone
  • be 300mm wide, 450mm long and 100mm high at head of tablet for a length of 150mm tapering to 50mm at foot
  • only have a vase inset within the head area of the tablet
  • only have an inscription on the tapered portion
  • have a plot number inscribed on the back of the tablet
  • have the name of the supplier displayed on the back of the tablet

The granite planter (Efford only) is a stand-alone polished planter that holds 48 plaques. The centre of the unit is planted with decorative plants and is situated near the sanctum vault area.

A plaque is available on a five or ten-year renewable lease for either a three or six-line inscription with an optional design.

The perimeter walls of the garden of remembrance in our cemeteries are reserved for granite tablets and are available on a 25-year renewable lease.

Tablets must be 300mm by 150mm, made of Cornish silver grey granite (with hand cut raised lead letters finished in black) and have a granite vase no larger than 300mm by 225mm.

You'll need to buy all tablets from an approved monumental mason and they can only be placed after we've authorised it. Once you have brought the lease you can have a granite vase against the garden wall near the tablet.

Our cemeteries have an area reserved for sanctum vaults (allocated in rotation) which are available on a 25 or 50-year renewable lease.

Vaults are located below ground level and can contain two caskets with the name of the deceased. A granite tablet is secured above ground to a sloping vase block.

Cost

The price includes the lease of the vault, the granite tablet (can take up to six weeks to be made) with an inscription (can include a photo or design for an additional cost), a silver topped vase for fresh or silk flowers and the burial fee.

All our cemeteries have memorial rose bushes within the garden of remembrance that are available on a five-year renewable lease.

The price includes a plaque (can take up to four weeks to be made) which is placed in front of each rose bush with a short inscription.

The granite vase blocks are located on a wall within the upper garden of the garden of remembrance at Weston Mill and are on a 10, 15 or 20-year renewable lease.

Metal wall plaques are available either in the book of remembrance room (200mm by 40mm plaque) or the garden of remembrance (270mm by 85mm) on a five-year renewable lease.

No items can be placed on or around the memorials except where there is a space for fresh or silk flowers.
