We've signed a deal with partners BCHA to help us deliver some much-needed temporary accommodation for people experiencing homelessness.
Earlier this month, we were successful in obtaining funding from Homes England's Single Homelessness Accommodation Programme (SHAP) which is specifically allocated to benefit adults experiencing multiple disadvantage who may have a history of rough sleeping and require high levels of support, as well as young people at risk of or experiencing homelessness or rough sleeping.
In all, the Council were awarded £2.4 million plus three years of funding to provide 10 self-contained, accessible and adapted supported properties for individuals with mobility needs or physical disabilities.
In order to deliver this, we've teamed up with BCHA in recognition of their experience in delivering managing high-quality accommodation across the UK.
Councillor Chris Penberthy, Cabinet Member for Housing, Cooperative Development and Communities, said: "Obtaining the SHAP funding was a real result and will make a difference to a lot of people.
"It makes absolute sense to team up with BCHA on this. They are experts in buying, looking after and managing property for vulnerable people and it's great to have them on board."
A delegated decision to passport the SHAP funding to BCHA has now been signed.
