4 November 2022 - Stirling Project celebrates first phase completion
Houses completed as part of Plymouth’s latest veterans’ self-build scheme are set to become homes, as the first phase of the project completes.
The Stirling Project, based on the site of a former residential care home on Honicknowle Green, has seen nine previously homeless veterans involved in the construction of 25 self-contained affordable homes to rent.
Thanks to a partnership between Plymouth City Council, housing association LiveWest and veterans’ charity Alabaré, 12 of the plots are being built, and will be subsequently lived in, by the veterans themselves.

28 July 2022 - Eco-homes scheme gets funding boost
A ground-breaking eco-home scheme has taken a further step towards reality thanks to significant investment.
The scheme, which gained outline planning permission in December 2021, will see a council-owned site off Coombe Way, Kings Tamerton used for up to 70 affordable, net-zero carbon homes.

23 March 2022 - Work underway at two stalled housing sites
Building is underway on two development sites in Plymouth.
Land at the northern end of Prince Maurice Road in Lipson and the site of the former Whitleigh Community Centre will now provide the city with a total of 126 new homes of which 71 will be Affordable.
Development at both sites has had several false starts. Engineering challenges, escalating costs and of course COVID-19, have all seen the start of development pushed back.
But finally, work is well advanced on both sites, with developer G2 Housing Group brought on board after intervention from the Council.

16 February 2022 - Veteran goes from strength to strength on self-build scheme
A former army veteran who was on the verge of homelessness is thrilled to be building his own home as part of a self-build military project in Plymouth.
An exciting new Plymstock housing scheme has been given the green light.
The Council’s planning committee met on Thursday and unanimously approved planning permission for ten exceptionally well designed new homes on the site of the former Morley Youth Centre, off Broadland Gardens.

19 October 2021 - Housing agreement promises 153 new homes
More affordable homes are set to be built in Plymouth thanks to a new Housing Partnership Agreement between Plymouth City Council and housing association LiveWest.
LiveWest, who already own and manage more than 3,000 properties throughout Plymouth, has teamed up with the Council for the Agreement which will see construction of at least an additional 153 new homes in the city.
