A company responsible for attracting more visitors to Plymouth has been formed as part of the city's strategy to create 7,000 new jobs within the visitor economy.

The new, not for profit company, called 'Destination Plymouth', is a partnership between Plymouth City Council and businesses in the city centre, Barbican, Hoe and Waterfront areas. Destination Plymouth will co-ordinate an overall strategy for the city's £296m visitor economy and will bring together the activities of the City Centre Company and the Plymouth Waterfront Partnership under one umbrella.

It will be responsible for marketing the city as a whole and promoting visitor attractions and events such as the Summer Festival and Transat so that all sectors - attractions, hotels and restaurants, bars and clubs, shops and theatres gain from having more people visiting the city.
