Lord Mayor Designate announces Deputy

Lord Mayor Designate Councillor Tina Tuohy has announced that Councillor Pauline Murphy will be her Deputy for the year.

Pauline was born in Plymouth, and after leaving school she gained an apprenticeship as a Sailmaker for the Dockyard, and on completion of her apprenticeship, she continued working with them.

Pauline worked for Plymouth City bus as a bus driver and then moved to work for the Traffic Department, she worked there for six years.

She was elected as a Councillor to the Efford and Lipson Ward in 2010 and is the Chair of the Health and Adult Social Care Overview and Scrutiny Committee.

Pauline is the Armed Forces Champion for the city and President of the Federation of Ex-Services, and the Royal British Legion Crownhill Branch.

Pauline has also served as Deputy Lady Mayoress between 2005 and 2006, Lady Mayoress between 2008 and 2009, Deputy Lord Mayor between 2014 and 2015, and the Lord Mayor of Plymouth from 2016 to 2017.

Councillor Murphy said: “I am proud that Councillor Tuohy has asked me to be her Deputy Lord Mayor, I am really looking forward to supporting her in representing the city of Plymouth and its residents.” 

Councillor Tuohy added: “I am thrilled that Councillor Murphy will be my deputy for the upcoming year of office. She will be a valued asset to the team and is an excellent ambassador for the Armed Forces community.”
